Description

The Ombrage folding screen is a key piece in the Intérieur aux Aubergines collection, which was created in collaboration with designer Cristina Celestino.
Often used to partition a space to make it more intimate, the folding screen is now becoming a decorative tool in its own right.
The Ombrage folding screen fits perfectly into both a classic and contemporary setting, adding character to your interior design by playing with volumes and material.

Presented here in ochre, blue and terracotta tones, the Ombrage folding screen is available in another format: the Reflet folding screen

Arts and materials

The Ombrage folding screen is made up of three articulated panels that can be easily folded or unfolded. This means that it features a cut-out leaving an opening in the screen, giving it a unique and striking character.

The Ombrage screen's frames are fabricated in solid beech. Entirely built and assembled by hand, they come with a combination of block color fabric and organic patterns produced on jacquard looms using natural fibers. The central panel is covered in Belle-épine jacquard fabric, which can also be found on our cushions, floor cushions and wallpapers. The final added touch to this folding screen is its edges, which are decorated with beaded wooden rods.

Inspiration

The Ombrage folding screen draws its inspiration from the Intérieur aux Aubergines (1911) painting by Henri Matisse, one of the painter's most decorative works that features a folding screen with an arabesque motif in its center.

Cristina Celestino

For the permanent collection Intérieur aux aubergines, Maison Matisse was inspired by Henri Matisse's eponymous painting from 1911 and collaborated with the Italian designer Cristina Celestino. This choice seemed self-evident. The designer’s world is perfectly adapted to that of the artist’s painting in this particularly decorative canvas where the planes deeply superimpose each other.
