The Ombrage folding screen is a showpiece of the Intérieur aux aubergines collection created by designer Cristina Celestino. It can be folded and unfolded by means of three hinged panels whose solid beech frames are covered with fabrics made on jacquard looms from natural yarns. The first panel features a solid ochre fabric, the second features fabric decorated with an organic pattern, and the third features a solid light blue fabric. One of the 3 panels has the special distinction of being ornamented: it is cut on the diagonal to create an opening that is decorated with beaded wooden rods.

The Ombrage folding screen is inspired by Henri Matisse's Intérieur aux Aubergines (1911), one of the pinter's most decorative paintings that features a folding screen adorned with arabesques in the middle. It is a central piece in the collection that bears the painting's name.

For the permanent collection Intérieur aux aubergines, Maison Matisse was inspired by Henri Matisse's eponymous painting from 1911 and collaborated with the Italian designer Cristina Celestino. This choice seemed self-evident. The designer’s world is perfectly adapted to that of the artist’s painting in this particularly decorative canvas where the planes deeply superimpose each other.
