Intérieur aux aubergines - Colette armchair by Cristina Celestino - Maison Matisse

Colette armchair

Colette armchair

The Colette armchair echoes the textured and decorative atmosphere of the still life Intérieur aux aubergines (1911) that lends its name to this collection, created in partnership with Cristina Celestino.

The pattern featured on the seat cushions is in perfect harmony with the other pieces in the collection, which create an all-over combination of geometric shapes and organic forms that recall the scale effects and Orientalism of the painting.

The frame of the Colette armchair is made entirely of rattan by the greatest Italian craftsmen, who have been working in the Brianza area since 1889 and are now among the last in Europe.

The fabric used for the seats, like the fabric used for the folding screens, wallpaper, and cushions, are made from natural yarns by a renowned Venetian factory that dates back to the 18th century.
