The Colette armchair echoes the textured and decorative atmosphere of the still life Intérieur aux Aubergines, painted by Henri Matisse in 1911, which inspired Italian designer Cristina Celestino in creating this collection. The fabric reinterprets the painting's arabesques and the pears that form a still life with the eggplants. The rattan frame hints at the question of the relationship between inside and outside that the painter introduces with the theme of the window and the juxtaposition of planes.

For the permanent collection Intérieur aux aubergines, Maison Matisse was inspired by Henri Matisse's eponymous painting from 1911 and collaborated with the Italian designer Cristina Celestino. This choice seemed self-evident. The designer’s world is perfectly adapted to that of the artist’s painting in this particularly decorative canvas where the planes deeply superimpose each other.
