Exhibition : 'Matisse : Life & Spirit'
Direction Sydney
Maison Matisse takes you to Sydney this week, to the Art Gallery of New South Wales, to discover the beautiful exhibition " Matisse: Life & Spirit, Masterpieces from the Centre Pompidou".
Organized in collaboration with the Centre Pompidou in Paris, which hosted the major Matisse retrospective in 2020, the Australian exhibition features more than 100 works and 60 years of art by one of the world's most beloved artists.
The largest exhibition of Matisse's work ever presented in Sydney, including the largest exhibition ever seen in Australia, "Matisse: life & spirit" features numerous drawings, paintings and sculptures.
The exhibition is an invitation to dive into the vision of a painter constantly evolving throughout his long career, culminating of course in the presentation of his latest paper-cuts.
Very important paintings are presented, such as Le Luxe (1907) or La Tristesse du roi (1952): one of the painter's last self-portraits in paper-cuts, before his death in 1954.
A special place is also reserved for the presentation of the Chapelle du Rosaire de Vence, at the heart of the gallery, which Matisse considered the culmination of his life's work.
Color, energy, and emotion are on display in this unique exhibition, and punctuate this journey through the art and life of Matisse.
To be discovered until March 13, 2022.

'Matisse Alive'
Alongside the major exhibition, the Gallery also presents Matisse Alive, a program whose purpose is to celebrate Henri Matisse's influence on the world and creation today.
Four artists' projects are presented, between art, music and performance and include the work of Nina Chanel Abney, Sally Smart, Angela Tiatia and Robin White.
Exhibited through April 3, 2022.
See you soon!
