Guerlain and Maison Matisse

Since its founding in 1828, Guerlain has cultivated a special relationship with art, calling on numerous artists to enhance their creations. This year, this love of art is expressed through an exceptional collaboration with Maison Matisse, paying tribute to the Painter of Happiness: Henri Matisse.

Guerlain andMaison Matisse : the art of Happiness

The meeting of the two Houses, each emblematic of French cultural and artistic heritage, is organized around two original creations inspired by two works of the painter: The Bee Bottle Edition Maison Matisse (inspired by La Musique painting of 1939), and three new editions of the L'art & La Matière Guerlain collection (inspired by Les Mille et Une Nuits of 1950).

Guerlain Bee Bottle, Maison Matisse Edition

To celebrate the 170th anniversary of the creation of this mythical bottle, Astrid de Chaillé, an artist, was commissioned to paint fourteen unique pieces by hand, inspired by the famous 1939 painting: La Musique. The emblematic motifs and colors of the painting are used to dress the bottle, which contains a perfume created for the occasion: Couleur Bonheur.

Philodendron leaf, curves of the guitar, vivid flat tints of red and blue; the Flacon aux Abeilles Édition Maison Matisse is a perfect harmony of forms and colors present in the painting of the painter, and realized in 14 unique pieces signed and numbered.

L'art et La Matière collection

Inspired this time by Matisse's Les Mille et Une Nuits (1950), two additional editions are born from this collaboration between Guerlain and Maison Matisse: the new perfume Jasmin Bonheur decorated with its "jewel" plate, and the candle Figue Azur.

Jasmin Bonheur
Jasmin Bonheur is the olfactory translation of Matisse's Les Mille et Une Nuits, with its colorful jasmine, apricot, iris and rose nuances. The exclusive motif developed by Maison Matisse for Guerlain is a tribute to the 1950 work, interpreting the heart, jasmine flower and leaf motifs imagined by Matisse.

Each decorative plate is made in France by a workshop specialized in ceramics and requires several hours of work. A limited edition of 1000 pieces, also available alone to personalize any Guerlain bottle (limited to 200 pieces).

Figue Azur
A tribute to the southern air so dear to Matisse, the Figue Azur Matisse House Edition candle reveals an enchanting scent of fresh fig, a poetic way of underlining the strong link between the art of the painter and that of the perfumer.

Launch of the Guerlain and Maison Matisse collaboration

A look back at the amazing scenography that hosted the launch of our collaboration with Guerlain, during an intimate dinner in Paris. The privileged Friends of Guerlain were invited to discover the creative audacity of its Perfumers at the Centre Georges Pompidou, which houses some of Henri Matisse's most emblematic works.
