Description

The plaid, object of warmth and conviviality, has found its place for several years in many decorations, classic or contemporary, for our greatest pleasure. Maison Matisse wishes to give, through this plaid Contrepoint in wool and cotton, a personal version of the painting La Musique (1939) by Henri Matisse.

The triangular shape, which can be found in the painting La Musique (1939), is used in this plaid Contrepoint to bring an organic and graphic touch to the fabric.

It offers a lively and creative atmosphere, full of colors, when placed on an armchair, a bed, or draped over the shoulders like a shawl.

The Contrepoint plaid, designed by Maison Matisse studio, is available in four color combinations: green/black, red/pink, pink/ochre and blue/ochre.

Arts and materials

The Variation plaid has a two-tone negative finish and is woven on high-precision jacquard looms. It was created by an Italian company that specializes in this, and it highlights a unique and ancestral know-how.

Jacquard is the ideal compromise between quality and weaving possibilities, thanks to its excellent characteristics such as ease of care and fabric fluidity.

To achieve the optimum softness and thermal capacity, Maison Matisse used a blend of wool (60%) and cotton (40%) for the fabric. As a result, the plaid isn't just for sitting on, but can also be worn by everyone to keep us warm in the cold.

Inspiration

The philodendron leaf in Henri Matisse's painting La Musique (1939) prompted the Studio Maison Matisse to recreate it in the format of four plaids using colors from the work's palette. This design feature, which is beloved to the painter, adds freshness to the fabric while yet adhering to the painting's rules.
