The Détour stool is a piece imagined by French designer Guillaume Delvigne. It is part of the collection Les Mille et Une Nuits, inspired by the painting of the same name by Henri Matisse (1950). Available in 4 colors from the palette of the work, it can be used as a seat around a dining table, as a side table in a living room or as a bedside table next to your bed. Its organic shape makes it a singular design piece, allowing it to fit into a variety of interiors.

Arts and materials
The cork used to create the pieces imagined by Guillaume Delvigne is a natural material 100% recycled, from eco-managed cork oak forests and produced by a FSC-certified specialist. First reduced to grain, then sifted to the ideal thickness, it is then "amalgamated" into blocks. Thanks to a very precise machine, the natural cork block is then carved into the edge to form the final piece. All waste from this process is recycled back into the first stage of production.
Inspiration
The Détour stool proposes an assembly of two cork forms, interpreting various codes of the painting of Matisse in three dimensions this time.
Guillaume Delvigne chose to integrate an oval shape in the seat, echoing the different shapes present in the work, as well as a delicate cut on the foot of the stool. The result is both playful and sober, and offers a nice balance between the color and the natural aspect of cork.
