Description

Through the creation of this scarf, Maison Matisse wishes to pay homage to one of the materials dear to Henri Matisse: textile. Born into a family of weavers, the love and work of textiles was passed on to him as a child with great importance.

Thus, Maison Matisse has created for the first time a square made of silk (100%), designed to accompany you from day to day. Since silk is a natural material known for its thermoregulatory properties, the Variation silk scarf is easy to wear in any season.

Far from being a simple scarf, the silk scarf is a multi-purpose item. Its "bandana" format allows it to be worn on the wrist, on the handle of a bag, in the hair, on the head and of course around the neck: so many different ways to wear it, so that everyone can make their own personal interpretation.

Resolutely colorful and cheerful, its four color variations make it the perfect accessory to enhance any outfit, whether chic or casual.

Arts and materials

Made in Italy by a traditional manufacturer, the Variation Silk Square is a remarkable piece. Made of printed silk twill, its manufacture requires the craftsman's special attention and numerous adjustments to achieve large flat areas of vibrant, full color.
The hand-rolled finish is a detail that attests to the skill of the weaver: each piece is rolled under the fingers of the craftsman, then, the small hem is fixed by an almost invisible stitch.
Maison Matisse has chosen here an Italian-style roulotté (rolled backwards).

Inspiration

The Variation silk square is a creation of Studio Maison Matisse and is part of the La Musique collection, initiated with designer Marta Bakoski. The collection is inspired by the eponymous painting painted in 1939 by Henri Matisse.
Here, we can easily recognize the leaf motif that is represented in the background of the painting, also an emblematic figure of the painter.
The colors chosen for the different versions of this silk bandana are also drawn from the palette of the work.
